Method: To do the observation an econometric regression analysis has been made. The variables tested are consumption, real GDP, stock- and real estate market prices. In the model three different time periods have been investigated to facilitate the origin of different patterns. Conclusion: The Swedish consumption pattern seems to be in accordance with the permanent income hypothesis. The analysis shows that consumption in all three time periods does not exceed the increases in income
