The purpose of this essay has been to describe and analyze the planning and achievement of the aftercare in the coercion car law (LVM), applied to addicts in Sweden. To achieve this, we have conducted qualitative interviews with social workers and politicians in three Swedish municipalities. Our issue has been related to the following topics: · How does the social service look upon LVM? · In what extent can the support stated in 30 § LVM be found? · How does the planning for the aftercare seem from a social worker’s point of view and in what moment is this assessment made? · What is the ambition of the social service for the aftercare that is being planned? · What are the grounds in a successful LVM-care? · Why is the LVM-care not always fo...
