LVM och sen? En studie som beskriver hur tre kommuner planerar och genomför eftervården

The purpose of this essay has been to describe and analyze the planning and achievement of the aftercare in the coercion car law (LVM), applied to addicts in Sweden. To achieve this, we have conducted qualitative interviews with social workers and politicians in three Swedish municipalities. Our issue has been related to the following topics: · How does the social service look upon LVM? · In what extent can the support stated in 30 § LVM be found? · How does the planning for the aftercare seem from a social worker’s point of view and in what moment is this assessment made? · What is the ambition of the social service for the aftercare that is being planned? · What are the grounds in a successful LVM-care? · Why is the LVM-care not always followed up by a planned aftercare? The personnel interviewed believed that they offered a fine and well organized aftercare for the clients, which we also agree on. Their opinion was that this kind of aftercare is necessary for the integration back into society and to secure total abstinence from drugs for the clients. A majority of the informants believes that the law should be used as a lifesaving tool, which contradicts the purpose of the law that states the motivation of voluntarily care as the primary goal
