The purpose of this essey was to examine the latemodern family and what impact the latemodern family life has had on the children. This has been achieved by taking the concept of family and individualization as a starting point, and viewed in the light of a historical retrospect. My questions at issue were: · What processes in the development of society has contributed to create the conditions of the latemodern family? · What are the characteristics of the latemodern family? · How can the concept of individualization be understood in context of the latemodern family life and childhood? · What influence has the latemodern family life had on the individual and the child?
