The purpose of this study was to illustrate the problems with relapse as a concept from the point of view and experiences of staff in addictiontreatment programmes and social welfare secretaries. To attain this purpose we focused on the following questions: · In what way is relapse defined in the different discourses? · How does the different discourses view the individual responsibility in a relapse situation? · In what ways does the discourses like and differ in their view on relapse? · What consequence does the discourses view on relapse bring in the life of the individual?
