Solidaritetens Erosion

This quantitative study was designed to measure how solidarity changes within social work students in Lund and Helsingborg. A survey was sent out through the university student-mail to all 1050 students who studies social work in Lund or Helsingborg. 364 replies were received. The survey was built with Likert-Scales and measured solidarity through 12 items, which the students graded from one to seven in how well the items matched them as a person. The collected sum of the items was used to calculate a solidarity-score for each term. How solidarity changed from the first to last term was shown. The finding of this study was that solidarity decreases with time of education. It does increase and decrease between start to finish but ultimately it does decrease. This is considered a problem since literature suggests that solidarity is something that affects social work in a positive way. Therefore, it is necessary to regard the decrease of solidarity as something that ought to be explored in the social work education
