Kebutuhan akan energi listrik terus meningkat seiring dengan perkembangan teknologi dan pertambahan penduduk dan perkembangan beban yang terus meningkat namun tidak diimbangi dengan pembangkitan energi listrik yang memadai dapat mengganggu ketersediaan energi listrik bagi pelanggan. Salah satu cara untuk menjaga ketersediaan energi listrik yang mampu mengakomodasi perkembangan beban tanpa menambah kapasitas pembangkit utama adalah dengan menempatkan Distributed Generation (DG).
