The results of interviews and observation at X grades of SMA Negeri 2 Metro, showed that the student’s learning activities and material mastery is low. This study aimed to determine the effect of GI models in increase student’s learning activities and material mastery. The design is equivalent control group. The sample were class X5 and X7 which selected by purposive sampling. The data in quantitative and qualitative form. Quantitative data obtained from the average of pretest, posttest and N-gain were analyzed using t-test or U test. Qualitative data in descriptions of students' learning activities form.
