In our country, as in most countries, public education and its quality play an important role. We know that education is a slow-return investment for both individuals and societies. This return on material goods gives rise to additional exogenous returns. In Hungary people’s education lags behind the advanced European countries. Looking at the PISA surveys, we get a bitter picture. Hungarian students in all competencies have poor results in mathematics, reading comprehension, or natural sciences.
