A patient ward at the Rockefeller Hospital, 1911 Courtesy of the Rockefeller Archive Center Wards in the Hospital of the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research were used heavily during the polio outbreak in 1911, as well as in subsequent disease epidemics. Many innovative hospital protocols, practices, and techniques were developed in the wards, where patients received the best treatments available, while scientific data were gathered to advance knowledge of the disease. Rockefeller\u27s patient wards were distinctly more pleasant and modern than those at many other hospitals of the day.https://digitalcommons.rockefeller.edu/hospital/1000/thumbnail.jp
