The Economic Impact of a Major Business on Aiken County

The purpose of my research was to study the economic impact of a major business on Aiken County and attempt to calculate a dollar amount to signify this impact, as well as determine the number of secondary jobs created by its presence. This was done by utilizing the online economic impact calculator Impact Analysis for Planning (IMPLAN) and confirming these findings through the development of my own industry specific input-output model (AM). According to IMPLAN and AM the total effects are local increases jobs, labor income, and output. As both the author\u27s findings as well as IMPLAN\u27s are estimates, it can be surmised the findings are correct within a reasonable degree of certainty. At the very minimum, the existence of the business has expanded the service sector proportional to the manufacturing industry and helped stimulate the economy
