Deborah Morton and Two Students in the Library, Hersey Hall, Westbrook Junior College, 1930

Westbrook Junior College\u27s Deborah Nichols Morton (1857-1947) stands before a Hersey Hall Library shelf in this 1930 glossy, black and white photograph, which also shows two students seated at a study table in the back room of the Library. An outstanding and civic minded educator, Miss Morton was serving as librarian in the 1930s. In 1934 this small and cramped Library in Hersey Hall would be revamped and expanded under the direction of Dr. Milton D.
