This case study presents a series of steps to help the traditional university develop flexible forms of learning, and at the same time to increase the accessibility of learning and the visibility of the institution as a whole. The transition of the University of West Bohemia in the Czech Republic includes systematic work on strategic planning, mentoring of external experts, professional staff development, increasing of methodological and technical support, using learning analytics, investing in e-learning infrastructure, co-operating with other institutions and partners, and developing a quality framework for flexible learning and could inspire other higher education institutions
