The Mre11-Rad50-Xrs2 complex in Saccharomyces cerevisiae has roles in the intra-S checkpoint, homologous recombination, non-homologous end joining, meiotic recombination, telomere maintenance and the suppression of gross chromosomal rearrangements (GCRs).
