Methylotuvimicrobium alcaliphilum 20Z is a promising platform strain for bioconversion of one-carbon (C1) substrates into value-added products. To carry out robust metabolic engineering with methylotrophic bacteria and to implement C1 conversion machinery in non-native hosts, systems-level evaluation and understanding of central C1 metabolism in methanotrophs under various conditions is pivotal but yet elusive.
