This thesis examines how the Maasai of Tanzania and Kenya are being deprived of their culture. The loss of land the Maasai have been experiencing since 1911 is significant and continues to this today. Since the Maasai are an agro-pastoralist group, their livelihoods and cultural values depend on the natural resources that are available to them. Without access to large regions of land, the Maasai are unable to migrate, support their livestock, and practice sacred traditions. Based on the majority of experts, the Maasai of Tanzania and Kenya need support from their respective governments.
