Supplemental food programs in Missouri

Nearly all school children have access to school lunch, and either commodity distribution or the food stamp plan has been made available to low-income persons in all counties and the city of St. Louis. The Extension Service of the University of Missouri has sought to provide information of various kinds, ranging from explaining the mechanics of programs to members of county courts, to using specially trained non-professional staff to teach nutrition education to low-income families. Meanwhile, the Agricultural Experiment Station of the University of Missouri has conducted a series of studies of how the programs function. This bulletin summarizes information of general public interest as obtained from studies completed prior to 1970, together with general operating data obtained from officials of agencies of the Missouri Government in Jefferson City and St. Louis."--Page [ii].Harold F.
