International audienceSince their discovery in the 1990s, microRNAs (miRNAs) have fascinated scientists with their ability to regulate a broad spectrum of genes post-transcriptionally and finely, and to control almost all cellular processes. MiRNAs are key mediators of gene reprogramming and cellular functions under physiological and pathological conditions, particularly in cancer. This mini-review summarizes the steps in miRNA biogenesis and regulation of mRNA translation and stability.
