Do buril flamengo ao brilho do azulejo : a recepção das gravuras ornamentais de Collaert, De Vries, Floris, Cock e van der Borcht em Portugal (1550-1630)

International audienceBetween the second half of the sixteenth century and during the seventeenth century, the Flemish engravings that circulated in the Iberian Peninsula functioned simultaneously as an inspiring role and a reflection of a new dimension in the processes of creation of ornamental and figurative compendiums applied in panels of azulejos. The impact of Flemish engraving on tile painting reveals the relevant role of Christophe Plantin’s workshops as well as those of Pieter van Craesbeeck for the diffusion of a visual culture in the production of Flemish tile painters such as Jan Floris, Frans Andries and Jan de Goes who respectively settled in Talavera de Reina, Seville and Lisbon around the years 1560‑1565. The adaptation of scenes or engraved models on azulejos highlights the ability of tile painters to transpose some patterns. However, the interpretation of engraved motifs gives the ornament and consequently the azulejo a dimension both stylistic and rhetorical by the association of motifs capable of structuring and modifying the space.Entre a segunda metade do século XVI e durante o século XVII, as gravuras flamengas que circulam na Península Ibérica funcionaram, simultaneamente, como um papel inspirador e um reflexo de uma nova dimensão nos processos de criação dos compêndios ornamentais e figurativos aplicados em composições azulejares. O impacto da gravura flamenga na pintura sobre azulejo vem revelar a função preponderante das oficinas de Christophe Plantin assim como de Pieter van Craesbeeck na difusão de uma cultura visual, presente nas obras dos pintores de azulejo flamengos Jan Floris, Frans Andries e Jan de Goes que, por volta dos anos de 1560‑1565, se instalaram respetivamente em Talavera de la Reina, Sevilha e Lisboa. A adaptação de cenas ou de formas gravadas sobre o medium azulejar demonstra a capacidade do pintor em transferir os modelos. No entanto, a interpretação dos motivos gravados confere ao ornamento e consequentemente ao azulejo uma dimensão tanto estilística como retórica pela associação de motivos capazes de estruturar e modificar o espaço
