Viviendo con diabetes:: una agridulce experiencia

INTRODUCTION: Noncommunicable diseases are a public health problem, increasing amounts the number of deaths from these causes, due to the epidemiological transition that commits the populations. During the last decades the number of people with diabetes in Mexico has increased and is now among the leading causes of death in the country. Data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (ENSANUT) 2012, identify 6.4 million Mexican adults with diabetes, ie, 9.2% of adults in Mexico have already been diagnosed with diabetes. People living with diabetes suffer not only physical, but also emotional and attitudinal that can help health professionals and the system to a more comprehensive understanding of phenomenon. Objetive. Interpret the experiences of patients with diabetes. METHODOLOGY: qualitative study; the interpretative phenomenological method was used; for data collection in-depth interview was conducted, participated in the investigation five women and a man between 40 and 52 years who received a diagnosis for five years. RESULTS: Diagnosis unexpected changes in lifestyle and acceptance of the disease: three central themes found. CONCLUSION: Understanding and acceptance of the disease allows the patient to practice self care, including exercise and better eating habits also promotes adherence to therapeutic treatment and better quality of life for patients.INTRODUCCIÓN: Las enfermedades no transmisibles son un problema de salud pública, el número de muertes va en ascenso, debido a la transición paremiológica que compromete a las poblaciones. Durante las últimas décadas el número de personas que padece diabetes en México se ha incrementado y actualmente figura entre las primeras causas de muerte en el país. Los datos de la Encuesta Nacional de Salud y Nutrición (ENSANUT) 2012, identifican a 6.4 millones de adultos mexicanos con diabetes, es decir, 9.2% de los adultos en México han recibido ya un diagnóstico de diabetes. Las personas que viven con diabetes no solo sufren cambios físicos, sino también emocionales y actitudinales que pueden ayudar a los profesionales de la salud y al sistema a una comprensión más global del fenómeno. Objetivo. Interpretar las vivencias de pacientes con Diabetes. METODOLOGÍA: Estudio cualitativo; se utilizó el método fenomenológico interpretativo; para la recolección de los datos se realizó una entrevista a profundidad, participaron en la investigación cinco mujeres y un hombre entre 40 y 52 años, que recibieron su diagnóstico desde hace cinco años. RESULTADOS: Se encontraron tres temas centrales: Diagnóstico inesperado, cambios en el estilo de vida y aceptación de la enfermedad. CONCLUSIÓN: La comprensión y aceptación de la enfermedad permite que el paciente, practique el cuidado de sí, incluyendo el ejercicio y mejores hábitos alimenticios, favorece además, la adherencia al tratamiento te
