In this paper we present the characteristics of LADON beams, namely monochromatic and polarized gamma-ray beams, produced by the inverse Compton scattering of laser light against high energy electrons. Their effectiveness, as tool for high precision measurements, is illustrated using some of the more recent experimental results on photodisintegration of light nuclei and photofission of heavy nuclei
