Rosario Livatino between holiness and ‘civil religion’ This article investigates the largely unknown profile of Rosario Livatino, a young Italian judge who was murdered by Mafia members at Agrigento (Sicily) on 21 September 1990. In so doing, it explores how the Catholic Church and the Italian civil society have recently assumed Livatino as an ideal ‘model’ to oppose the mafias across the peninsula
