PENGARUH PEMBERIAN EKSTRAK KULIT BATANG ASAM JAWA (Tamarindus indica l) TERHADAP KADAR TIMBAL DARAH PADA TIKUS (Rattus norvegicus strain wistar) YANG DIINDUKSI TIMBAL PER-ORAL

Background : Heavy metal lead can cause intoxication. Meanwhile, Tamarind indica linn stem bark contains flavonoid, tannin and saponin as antioxidant that can binding lead capable that the blood can be lower. Objective : This experiment to find out the effect of Tamarind indica linn stem bark extract intervention to plumbum level in rat blood (Rattus norvegicus strain wistar) that induced by orally lead intervention. Methods: True experimental with post-test only control group design. 16 Rats tails are divided into 4 groups : 1 groups been given a lead 30mg/200grbw/day, whiled 3 groups had given lead and of the tamarind indica linn stem bark extract with dosed 1,12, 2,24, 4,48 mg/200grbw/day.The lead blood levels had been measured used the Atomic Absorbance Spectrophotometer test. The data had analyzed with one way Anova, post hoc benferoni and linear regression. Result and Discussion: One way ANOVA test resulted obtained a significant differenced in lead blood levels (p:0,006) among treatment groups becaused to the influence of Tamarind indica linn stem bark extract.Post hoc test resulted not significant difference (p > 0,05) in all treatment groups compared the control group. Linear regression resulted in R2 : 0,0156 (Tamarind indica linn stem bark extract had 15,6% of influence). Metal lead level in rat blood decreased because flavonoid, tannin, saponin in Tamarind indica linn stem bark extract could inhibited free radical activity and can adsorb metal lead. Conclusion: Tamarind indica linn stem bark extract affect the decrease of lead blood levels
