Significant research and development in Europe in recent years has been focused on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). Many ITS functions are available on portable navigators and Smartphones and their market penetration is increasing considerably. Nevertheless no standards directly related to the use of Aftermarket and Nomadic Devices in vehicles exist and there is little published knowledge about their impact on the driver behavior.
