Umande Trust and GOAL Ireland are partnering in an urban sanitation project in informal settlements within Nairobi. One of the components of the project is the development of communityowned sanitation enterprises. Through these enterprises, the project seeks to achieve the following: link sanitation services with child protection and community health services; reduce costs to access sanitation services without interrupting the livelihoods of local small scale service providers; and partially recover capital costs in order to reinvest into further environmental health interventions.
