Equity and inclusion are fundamental to WaterAid’s mission as part of a rights based approach. WaterAid collaborated with the Water, Engineering and Development Centre (WEDC), Loughborough University, to design and run an equity and inclusion practitioner training course. It was designed and piloted in 2010, funded by WaterAid and WEDC. An external evaluation found that the training increased the knowledge, skills and confidence of participants to implement equity and inclusion in their own work. Recommendations were made for improvements, which were incorporated into a second course in 2011.
