This dissertation documents the development of a prototype hypertext disaster control plan for the Pilkington library at Loughborough University and evaluates the feasibility of its application. The literature concerning disaster control planning is reviewed: the objectives and contents of a disaster control plan are considered, as are other aspects of disaster control planning such as staff training. The literature on hypertext is discussed and includes a history ofhypertext, and a summary of the main issues: non-linearity, navigation, learning, information storage and retrieval, and the structure of the document.
