The Govt. of India has identi$ed 146 districts in 19 states for micro-planning of degraded lands. Nearly 83% of wastelands are in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and UP.
