This paper addresses some methodological issues concerning the use of qualitative interviews in Communication Research, focusing on two projects related to researches. It discusses some aspects of the decision-making in the interview process by arguing that, far from being a technique, qualitative interview might be seen as part of a broader communication process that includes, but is not limited to, three main elements: (1) the interviewees’ choice and the initial conditions of the interview; (2) the moment of the interview as an intersubjective encounter and (3) the problem of the validity of the data obtained in this type of interaction.
