Abstract

Aims & Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate a protocol for clinical use of cryosurgery in the treatment of oral inflammatory hyperplasia. Trans and postoperative pain and duration of surgery were also assessed. Methods: Twelve patients underwent liquid nitrogen cryotherapy with a closed probe. Two 60-second treatment applications were performed, and thawing was allowed to proceed for 2 minutes. Results: Cure of hyperplasia was achieved in six patients (successful group), whereas three patients had no decrease in the size of the lesion (unsuccessful group).
