Immunohistochemical evaluation of Bcl2 and Cytokeratin 14 and Cytokeratin 19 in Ameloblastoma

Ameloblastoma is the most common odontogenic tumor of the jawbones, but the origin of this tumor has been remained to be unproven. Cytokeratins (CKs) are specific intermediate filament of epithelial cells, Bcl 2 is an anti apoptotic protein and is a marker of epithelial cell differentiation. The immunohistochemical detection of cytokeratins has made it easier to know the origin of tumor. Likewise, Bcl2 expression suggests the aggressive nature of Odontogenic tumour and these results will be beneficial in differential diagnosis of odontogenic  tumors and other kind of tumors arising at the oral cavity.
