ABSTRACT:Bauxite residue disposal areas(BRDAs) aretypicallybare of vegetationwith highsalinity and alkalinity. However,spontaneous encroachmentofvegetation indicated that natural weathering processes hadtransformedtheresidue tailings into a soil-like material. Herewe investigatethedevelopment of bacterial communities and theirgeochemical driversin bauxite residue,using Illumina high-throughput sequencing technology.
