Biofuels produced from biomass has the potential to become a vital part of the aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the UK. The environmental sustainability of biofuels is, however debated. Studies conducted on bioethanol, pellets and untreated material from agricultural residues have shown biofuels to have a reduced environmental impact compared to fossil fuels but the methodology chosen can lead to differences in results.
