Prediction of alcohol yield from wheat grain

Wheat samples vary in their suitability for a particular end use. Quality has been set for individual end uses such as milling quality. So far there is no quality criterion for bioethanol wheat in the UK. Several grain biophysical and chemical features were analysed to study their relationships with alcohol yield (AY) and to develop a prediction tool based on these features. Among the grain parameters studied, grain nitrogen concentration and thousand grain weight (TGW) showed promising relationships with AY.
