Nine sites totaling 1000 m2 were selectedfor testing in the tropical medium subdeciduous forest of southern Yucatan. Thewoody species encountered were identified and recorded. The diameter of eachspecimen at breast height (DAP) and theheight of all individuals with DAP ≥ 3 cmwere measured. The structure of each sitewas described based on relative values ofdensity, frequency and dominance as wellas the distribution of height and diameterclasses. Species diversity for each site wasestimated using the Shannon Wiener Index,and the floristic similarity between siteswas evaluated using the Morisita Index.
