Since ancient times neem (Azadirachta indica A. Juss., Meliaceae) was recognized as an extraordinary plant species, due to numerous benefi ts it off ered to everyday life, including human health, agriculture and even construction. Chemical composition of this species is extremely rich, counting more than 400 compounds, among which more than 150 triterpenoids have been isolated from diff erent parts of the plant. Seed kernels, out of which neem oil is produced, leaves and bark are used more frequently. Th is article reviews pharmacological properties and the most common uses of neem, with accent to the therapeutic prospective of neem in dental medicine
