Women in accountancy: A reminder of a century past

During the past twenty-five years, the profession of accountancy in the United States has experienced a dramatic increase of women entering the practice of accounting, particularly public accounting. Although women have historically worked in business record-keeping, their movement into the mainstream of accounting has until recently been slow and difficult.
