The constant increase of bandwidths and bitrates in everyday applications (e.g., telecommunications, internet of things), as also in more specialized applications (e.g., radar, radio astronomy observations), imposes stringent constraints in terms of speed, power consumption and heat dissipation at the analog-to-digital conversion stages of acquisition chains. Therefore, a current trend is to perform signal processing (e.g., Fourier transform) in the analog domain to be able to process ultra-wideband signals with low latency and in a more energy-efficient way.
