Non-knapped lithic tools as activity markers. Beyond the technological/typological information they provide, non-knapped lithic tools can indicate the nature of site occupation. We attempt here to systematize the link between these objects and the activities to which they are related. This attempt at formal analysis, inspired by the classification of techniques elaborated by Leroi-Gourhan, retains his three principal categories : techniques of fabrication, acquisition and consumption. Demonstrating the presence of one or more of these techniques at a site can reveal site function, or at least contribute to interpretation.
