International audienceThe present article is based on situations observed : in all the schools in Europe, children read literature, encouraged by their teachers, textbooks and, in some countries, by the official curriculum. Why do children read literature at school ? What type of literature is promoted by school ? Does this institutionalized cultural legacy meet with the works, objects and tastes which found the culture of today’s children ? Can some convergences in the school cultural education of today’s children be identified between different European countries ?
