Background : Labour pain is one of the most severe pains a woman will live in her life. Studying labour pain is crucial as it is a physical and psychological challenge for women and couples.Methods : The objective of this study was to explore the experience of labour pain. A qualitative study was realized in a type I maternity in the region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with nine women between the first and the third day of postpartum period.Results : Women have a prenatal representation of labour pain from previous personal experience and oral transmission.
