The purpose of this thesis is to provide a basic reference and guide to future conductors who may wish to perform these pieces. Through meticulous score study, effective rehearsal technique, and some knowledge of music history and the composers\u27 background, a conductor has the tools to communicate the expressive potential of a composition to an ensemble and ultimately to an audience. This document is not intended to provide a definitive biography of the composer or definitive analysis of the music, but rather to provide insight from a conductor\u27s point of view on these compositions
