Quantitative trait loci (QTL) for thermotolerance were previously identified for adult flies in several mapping populations of Drosophila melanogaster Meigen (Diptera: Drosophilidae) in the laboratory. However, laboratory assays may not necessarily reflect the performance under heat stress in the field.
