Background. Far-infrared emitting garments have biological properties, among which the capability to increase blood perfusion in irradiated tissues. Design. Aim of the study was to evaluate if far-infrared radiation increases maximal exercise capacity and delays the recourse to anaerobic metabolism in non-athletes healthy subjects. Methods. With a double-blind, random cross-over protocol, a maximal cardiopulmonary exercise test was performed in 20 volunteers, wearing far-infrared or common sport clothes, identical in texture and color.
