The Mediterranean represents an almost closed basin within which numerous streams flow. The coastal territories that are part of it, constitute a well-defined ecoregion, characterized by a remarkable diversity of landscapes, geology and climate. The Mediterranean landscape is presented as the result of the interaction between the geo-environmental characteristics and the anthropic activities (Marzi, Tedone, 2009). The birth of agriculture occurred following the improvement of the climatic conditions due to the end of the last glacial period (Würm) and to the beginning of the Holocene (around 10,000 years ago) that still continues.
