The article examines the role judges had in the Resistance in the yars 1943-1945 and fucuses in particular on the Judicial District of the Liguria. The Italian historiography dealing with this specific issue is rarther limited and there are no studies concerning Liguria. Therefore, the article is manly based on primary sources. The author has identified several cases of judges involved in different types of Resistance activities and reconstructed their professional career, the modalities of their opposition to Nazi-fascism and their punishment, mostly the death sentence or deportation
