This article presents a socio-historical outline of the genesis and evolution of written culture from which pedagogical proposals to teach and learn to write over time have emerged. It is a documentary - analytical investigation, through which it is approached from a holistic, transdisciplinary vision, how theories about written culture and pedagogy about writing have evolved. In order to systematize information on this topic, to know the evolution of theories about writing models and their impact on teaching practice.
