La reconfiguración de la elite local durante el proceso revolucionario en Mendoza (Argentina), 1810-1820. Un análisis a partir de los funcionarios subalternos de justicia

Abstract Within the context of institutional reconfiguration undertaken since 1810, minor magistrates engaged in the administration of justice and the police force occupied a key political role. This was due, on the one hand, following the hypothesis put forward by Antonio Annino, to the fact that revolutionary legality was based on "the government of judges" since it was town halls that expressed the proclaimed resumption of sovereignty with the representation that should be legitimized by the inexperienced authorities and this was applied to the minor mayors who administered justice at the judges' behest. It was also due to the fact that they acted as intermediaries in the relations between government and population on an everyday basis. In this respect, the paper concerns the people who served as lower judicial magistrates, in order to observe how the social arc of public participation widened as access to resources of political power were opened up to those that had thitherto not taken part in it.Resumen En el contexto de reconfiguración institucional emprendida desde 1810, los magistrados menores con funciones de justicia y policía pasaron a ocupar un papel político clave. Por un lado, porque, siguiendo la hipótesis planteada por Antonio Annino, la legalidad revolucionaria anclo en el "gobierno de los jueces'' en la medida en que fueron los cabildos quienes articularon la proclamada reasunción de la soberanía con la representación que debía legitimar las noveles autoridades, y esto se aplicaba a los alcaldes menores que aplicaban justicia por designación de aquellos. Por otro lado, porque actuaban cotidianamente como intermediarios en las relaciones entre gobierno y población. En este sentido, el trabajo se ocupa de las personas que ejercieron las magistraturas judiciales inferiores, para observar cómo pudo ampliarse el área social de participación pública en tanto abría el acceso a recursos de poder político a quienes quizá hasta el momento no hablan intervenido en él
