Abstract Worship of the Sacred Heart has been present in all kinds of printed work since the 19th century, but the amount of devotion it has elicited worldwide cannot be reduced to its purely religious nature, since one must also consider its political dimension. This phenomenon has attracted notice in the field of cultural transfers between Europe and America and this paper forms part of a comparative history project that seeks to analyze it in various contexts, specifically, it tries to show, that together with its universal dimension, the symbolism of the Sacred Heart acquires partic-ular features in every Latin American country.
