Memoria y vivencias de la muerte y la orfandad

Abstract The objective of this text is to reconstruct the life experiences that occurred following the death and loss of the mother, which is why the children spent their lives as orphans. An oral testimony is used to recoverthe memory and experiences that led to this condition and the author identifies some of the cultural and social mechanisms that operate in the processesof grief and the childish feeling of vulnerability, in other words, how orphanhood is recalled and experienced, as well as the family strategies used to look after and protect infants from the affective and material shortages implied by these circunstances. Testimonies are used to reconstruct the social and cultural context in which the children developed and the institutional concerns that surrounded them, such as school and family. It is worth pointing out that during the period of study, between the 1930s and 1940s, one of the social problems, particularly of public health, was to design a public health policy to reduce the mortality and morbidity rotes among the Mexican population, which gave rise to situations of orphan hood among a sector of boys and girls, and therefore of the affective adjustment between them.Resumen El objetivo de este texto es reconstruir las experiencias de vida que se presentan ante la muerte y la perdida de la madre de quienes padecieron en su infancia la condición de huérfanos, Mediante testimonio oral se rescatan la memoria y las vivencias que conlleva tal condición y se identifican algunos de los mecanismos culturales y sociales que se operan en los procesos de duelo y del sentimiento infantil de desamparo, es decir, cómo se recuerda y cómo se vive la orfandad así coma las estrategias familiares que se despliegan para atender y proteger a las infantes de las carencias afectivas y materiales que supone tal circunstancia. Asimismo, a partir de dicho testimonio se pretende reconstruir el contexto social y cultural en el que se desenvolvieron los infantes y las preocupaciones institucionales que los rodeaban, entre ellas la escuela y la familia. Conviene destacar que en la época de estudio, entre las décadas de los años treinta y cuarenta, uno de los problemas sociales, en particular de salud pública, fue diseñar una política que aminorara las tasas de mortalidad y morbilidad entre la población mexicana que originaban situaciones de orfandad entre un sector de niños y niñas y, por añadidura, de reajuste afectivo entre ellos
