The Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC, in Spanish), created shortly after the Revolution in 1959, set out from the beginning to promote a cinema committed to the changes that were taking place. In this sense, the documentary was the appropriate model to exalt the revolutionary process underway.
